FAQ for the PingPongParkinson World Championship 2026

This FAQ summarises the most important organisational and sporting information for participants and accompanying persons. Current announcements on pppwc.net and instructions issued by the tournament management on site remain authoritative.
Participation and supporting documents
Who may participate in the World Championship?
Only players whose registration remains valid and whose accreditation has been confirmed may participate. The registration and verification process has been completed.
Do I need to bring my Parkinson diagnosis certificate to Hannover?
No. All participants who are currently admitted have already submitted the required evidence. The certificate does not need to be presented again during accreditation.
Can a registration that has already been removed become valid again if a certificate is submitted later?
No. Registrations that have already been removed remain removed. Presenting documents later or at the venue does not create eligibility to compete and cannot reverse a removal.
Arrival accreditation and admission
Where will the World Championship take place?
The tournament will take place at Sportpark Hannover. Matches will be played in the Swiss Life Hall, LSB Hall 1 and the hockey hall. Access is via the area in front of the Akademie des Sports.
When and where is accreditation open?
Accreditation will take place in the foyer of the LSB building.

By what time must I arrive for accreditation?
Please arrive by 16:00 on Friday if possible. Anyone who cannot arrive before 17:00 must inform the tournament management before 17:00 so that their participation can still be taken into account for the draw.
What must I bring to accreditation?
Please bring an official photo ID. You do not need to bring a Parkinson diagnosis certificate.
What is the accreditation badge used for?
Your personal accreditation badge must be worn visibly throughout the event. It serves as proof of access and identity and also records any lunches booked in advance.
Do accompanying persons need accreditation?
No. Accompanying persons do not need accreditation. They may enter the halls and playing areas without a badge to support or coach participants when necessary.
May spectators enter the halls?
Yes. Admission to all halls is free for players, accompanying persons and spectators.
Is sufficient parking available?
Parking close to the halls is limited. Please allow extra time and use public transport or car sharing whenever possible.

When do the halls open?
From Saturday to Wednesday, the halls open at 08:30 each day. Tournament play normally starts at 10:00; individual workshops may begin earlier.
Where can I find the current competition and event schedule?
Current information, draws, match schedules, results and programme changes will be published on pppwc.net or announced by the tournament management on site.
Competition information
Where can I find my player number?
Your player number is shown in the tournament system and in the published participant and seeding lists. It is also printed on your accreditation badge and will be issued as a back number.
What is the deadline for changes to singles doubles and mixed doubles?
Requests to move up a singles class, withdrawals from singles, and entries or withdrawals for doubles and mixed doubles must be submitted by 16 September 2026 at the latest.
What can I do if I do not have a doubles or mixed doubles partner?
A partner exchange will be available in the LSB foyer during accreditation on 24 and 25 September. It only helps with events entered by the deadline and does not create new eligibility for the singles event or the championship as a whole.
Which tournament equipment will be used?
Matches will be played on JOOLA tables using white JOOLA Prime *** balls.
Must I wear my player number during matches?
Yes. The issued player number must be worn visibly on the back of your shirt during every match.
Lunch and supporting programme
When and where is lunch served?
Pre-booked lunches will be served from Friday to Wednesday between 11:30 and 14:00 in the Toto-Lotto-Saal at the Akademie des Sports. Your accreditation badge serves as proof of the lunches booked.
Can I still book lunch at the venue?
No. Short-notice bookings during the event are not possible. Questions about existing bookings should be sent to team@pppwc.org.
When does Chill and Grill take place?
Chill & Grill will take place in the LSB outdoor area on Friday from 19:00 to 21:00 and from Saturday to Tuesday from 17:00 to 21:00. The programme is subject to change.
Which workshops and activities take place at the event venue?
The current supporting programme includes the following activities:

Britannia workshops on device aided therapies
What are the Britannia Pharmaceuticals workshops about?
Britannia Pharmaceuticals is holding two small, discussion-based workshops entitled “Living with device aided therapies in Parkinson’s – a workshop on everyday experiences and the communication needs of people with Parkinson’s and their supporters”. The workshops focus on everyday experiences with a device aided therapy, the decision to use a device, and the information and support needed by people with Parkinson’s and those close to them.
When will the Britannia workshops take place?

Who may take part in the Britannia workshops?
The workshops are intended for people with Parkinson’s who have been using a device aided therapy for at least six months, as well as care partners, family members or close friends who support someone with Parkinson’s in using such a therapy.
- Participants must be at least 18 years old.
- They must be able to communicate clearly and confidently in English.
- They must be willing to take part in a group discussion and share personal experiences.
- They must understand the purpose of the workshop and give written consent by signing a consent form.
Where will the Britannia workshops take place and can transport be arranged?
The venue is easy to reach from the tournament site. Transport can be arranged for participants. Britannia’s medical team will provide the details.
Will participants receive compensation?
Yes. Participants will receive compensation for their time and participation. Britannia Pharmaceuticals will provide further details.
How can I express interest in or register for a Britannia workshop?
Please contact Britannia Pharmaceuticals’ medical team directly at medicalaffairs@britannia-pharm.com. The team will explain the workshops, answer questions and assess whether the relevant workshop is suitable for the person enquiring.
What is PingPongParkinson’s role in these workshops?
The workshops are organised and conducted solely by Britannia Pharmaceuticals. PingPongParkinson is not involved in conducting the workshops or in collecting or processing any related data. PPP is only helping to make the voluntary opportunity known within the community.
Photos livestreams and emergencies
Will photographs and videos be taken during the World Championship?
Yes. Media representatives and PPP photo and video teams will cover the event. The permissions granted during registration apply. Event photographs and daily video summaries are expected to be made available through the tournament website.
Will matches and ceremonies be streamed live?
Livestreams of matches in the Swiss Life Hall, the opening ceremony and the awards ceremony are planned. Current links will be published through the official channels.
What should I do in a medical emergency?
Alert the volunteers or medical personnel on site immediately. In an acute emergency, call the European emergency number 112. Personal medication and important medical information should remain accessible at all times.
